As of March 2004, 23.000 Filipino
citizens are living in Germany. Many of them came to Germany
years ago to work as nurses or are seamen on German ships.
A large group of Filipinos in Germany are those who got
married to a German and then migrated to Germany. In 2003, 78 %
of the Philippine community in Germany were female.
Hamburg is the city with the largest Philippine community with nearly 2.000 Filipinos.
In general, Filipinos are very well integrated into German society and many have already become German citizens. Every year about 1.300 Philippine citizens acquire German citizenship through naturalization.
